Is Anybody Still Out There?

Well hasn’t it been a while? I’m not going to humiliate myself by confirming exactly how long it’s been but it’s safe to say that I didn’t exactly stick to my 2018 New Years resolution of uploading more to my blog than the previous years. Have no fear, I will save both of us from the empressement this year and shall not be promising a ton of blog content – in the hopes that I will instead do the opposite and create a ridiculous amount., good old mind trickery.

Grace Mandeville, labradoodle, Australian labradoodle, red shirt, double denim outfit, gucci belt, blogger,

It’s safe to say that 2018 was one incredible year, I got engaged to my best friend, I was nominated for a Cosmopolitan Award, worked on a dream job with ASOS collaborating and consulting on a brand new fashion label: Collusion, I featured in Vogue and i-d multiple times, created a podcast with Ryan called Growing Old Together and watched our  beautiful Puppy Juno grow into a cat that barks – honestly, she’s the laziest dog and I genuinely believe she feels the need to bark in order to prove the world that she is, in fact, a dog.

The best thing about the above paragraph is that it’s only a snippet of 2018 and it already shows how important it was to my life and definitely towards my career. Talking about my career, the funny thing is that 2018 was the year my sister and I decided to leave our management, who would have known it would have lead to such exciting opportunities. I guess things really do all happen for a reason.

For 2019 I haven’t come up with resolutions of such, instead, I’ve come up with a list of tasks. These include things such as planning our wedding, doing up the bathroom and going on holiday (thanks to my parents, they already planned this one last year). But I also have a separate checklist for things I’d like to achieve with my job, like writing for a publication or website, Presenting something serious and thought-provoking and collaborating or working with another fashion brand – dream big people.

So that’s where my mind is at in January 2019, where’s yours at? Do you believe in New Year’s resolutions or do you think they’re unhealthy?

  1. I’m still here! I love your blog – the photography and the writing! In 2018, I started my own weekly podcast entitled Content Abnormal. I play a horror host character who presents spooky radio dramas from the 1930s – 1950s. My friends and I also created the first issue of Content Abnormal, a horror movie fan zine featuring interviews, movie reviews, original short stories and comics. This year I hope to create 51 more episodes of the Content Abnormal podcast and a second issue of Content Abnormal. If the magazine sounds like something you’d like to contribute to please let me know. I’ve been a Mandevillian for years so I would be beyond thrilled if you were a part of Content Abnormal #2. It’s a free mag so there’s no salary to be had but you’d get original art, a printed copy of the magazine and your article put online!

  2. You did better than I did in blogging and you did so much overall in 2018. I’d love to see you present something thought provoking. In 2019, I hope to get good GCSEs but like you, one of my teachers made me cry a week before my drama exam (I prefer acting but she told me my writing was good so I should do costume design instead but then when she didn’t like my design, she made me redo it all a week before and told me I wasn’t proactive and I was going to fail and I’d be lucky to get a few marks and my design clearly hadn’t had much thought put into it etc.) So in 2019, I’d like to stick to what I enjoy and act instead of design and I’d like to become more confident in my ability and get to act and present outside of school more. Congratulations on your 2018 progress, it is really impressive and you have done so much and I hope 2019 is just as successful for you.

  3. Hi Grace!

I totally agree with you on the whole ‘resolutions’ thing! I have some big tasks I want to accomplish myself: find a job I don’t hate, hit 10K on YouTube so I can access YouTube Space London in order to host/plan some cool YouTuber events that haven’t been done before, upload to YouTube twice every week, fulfill my lifelong dream of traveling to London with family, go back to South Korea with friends, get a normal sleep schedule again, and hit my goal weight (not for anyone’s approval of course but so I can feel like my best self again)! Love your blog as always! Congrats on everything in 2018, wishing you all the best in 2019 ✨

  4. Congratulations on such a successful 2018! I’m really happy for you. I haven’t really thought about New Year’s resolutions, but thank you for reminding me! All the best for 2019 xx

  5. Do you know what year and month you would like to get married in yet? I am the same with resolutions – I come up with all these resolutions and then accomplish none of them so this year I am just seeing how things go. xx
